zelda iv: link's awakening
oddities
As in all of the games in which Link's exploits are told, there are certain oddities to be found.
Kohilint Island keeps its reputation as a mysterious island with both oddities and mysteries
galore. This guide details every mystery and oddity you could possibly believe existed on
Kohilint. Hell, we're talking about an island crowned with a giant spotted egg here!
Ganon makes a cameo
I mentioned this in the walkthrough. On your way to Richard's Villa there is a big stone pigs head.
My guess is that this alludes to Ganon, who is in fact a giant pig.
Mario's buddies guest star
A lot of Mario Bros. characters appear in this game. Most of them are enemies but there is one
friend.
- Cheep Cheep
- Blooper
- Goomba
- Bow Wow
- Yoshi ("he has been appearing in a lot of games lately")
Secret Seashells
This is the mother-mystery. It has been proven that there are in fact TWENTY SIX Secret
Seashells, not twenty like normally thought. I believe that the extra six are for if a person can't
find all the sea shells that are hidden on Kohilint. But the question arises, what if you collect 26
shells? The extra six only disappear AFTER you get the Level 2 Sword. Would the Mansion give
you a better sword (we have now entered the Rumor Zone) or maybe a code unlocks? If you find
out go ahead and email me.
Marin the critic
Don't learn the Ballad of the Wind Fish until after Marin follows you. Then while she follows you
play the Ocarina and she'll make fun of your music
Marin the Trendy Pro
Take Marin to the Trendy Game while she is following you and she'll ask for some money for the
Trendy Game. Let her play and she'll grab the Salesman and get him as a prize. Of course he
realizes Marin is a pro and kicks you two out.
"Mamu"
Did you know Mamu, the frog that teaches you the third and final song? According to one of our visitors, britty@proaxis.com, he is actually based on Wart, the "annoying bad guy who burped vegetables" at the end of Mario Brothers 2!
